How to use the metronome

    Set the tempo

    It goes from 30 to 300 beats per minute. If you do not know how fast a song goes, use "Tap the tempo" at the speed you remember and the metronome takes that tempo.

    Pick the time signature

    2/4, 3/4, 4/4 or 6/8, or build your own from 2 to 12 beats with half, quarter or eighth notes. To practise subdivisions you can switch between beat, eighths and triplets.

  3. 03

    Press start

    The first beat of every bar is accented, so you know where the bar starts. You can move the tempo while the metronome is already playing.

Do I need to create an account?
No. It opens and plays: no account, no email, no card, and no usage limit.
Does it work offline?
Once the page has loaded, yes: the sound is produced by your own device and no audio file is downloaded. If you close the tab and come back without a connection, the page will not load.
What tempo should I start with?
One that lets you hear every note: between 60 and 80 beats per minute is usually a good starting point. Only speed up once the exercise comes out clean at the previous tempo.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes, it opens in the phone browser and there is no app to install. With headphones the accent on the first beat is easier to hear.
